The Task
Having been built by Trappist Monks in the early 1900s, The Monastery is steeped in history. The developer had it converted into just eight exceptional residences and we were tasked with designing and installing a full Lutron Homeworks Lighting system for each of the eight apartments. The client also wanted to us to prewire each apartment so that future buyers had the option to incorporate the latest in smart home technology.
The Challenge
The property presented us with a variety of different challenges, the first of which was to get the lighting control working to its best potential. We had to ensure the lighting complimented the original stonework and granite features, whilst still being easy to use and energy efficient.
The prewire was also quite challenging due to the nature of the building, we had to ensure that the various communal distribution areas were well equipped to allow for future eventualities. The property was wired for audio in every room, provision for a robust wired data network as well distribution of HD signals to all TV outlets.
The Solution
A full Lutron lighting system in each apartment along with a comprehensive document, outlining the prospects for integrating future technologies.
In most cases we were instructed to go back and hang TV’s on the walls, get their network up and running and to provide multi room audio options.
